Supporting Families and Children

Ridgecrest PTA sponsors many programs that benefit not only our school and students but also our families and the community. Some of our programs are simply designed to allow the students to let loose and have fun, while others are educational for both students and parents. We want our families to be well informed, not only about school issues but also about community concerns such as safety and drug prevention.

We can always use volunteers for all our events and we invite all Ridgecrest family members to attend. You do not need to be a member of the PTA to attend any of our events. Below are just a few of the programs we support.

Walk to School Day Promotes Safe Routes to School

Picture
Our Walk to School day event on Oct. 8, 2014, is designed to promote healthy and safe routes to school. Students can either meet at Taylor Park Shelter #1 (1100 8th Ave. SW) or Rainbow Village (12301 134th Ave. N) and walk in groups to school together. Crossing guards and safety patrols will be located along the route to provide direction and keep kids safe. Permission slips are required...click here, then print, complete and return to school.

In 2012, we featured walking and biking safety programs during all P.E. classes and provided free bicycle helmets to children who arrived to school without one.

Raising Awareness of Bullying and Harassment

This year, the PTA sponsored a workshop to raise awareness of bullying and harassment. The workshop discussed the County's policy, discussed characteristics of the various behaviors and provided parents with tips for preventing and handling bullying and harassment. School Calendar

Picture
Ridgecrest PTA works hard to help parents and guardians plan their schedules so they can participate in school functions. Our calendar is planned out over the summer, so we can provide this information at the beginning of the school year. Our calendar also features important school information. You can download the calendar into your calendar by clicking here.
